Designed by Wilson Butler Architects (WBA), the Stanford Calderwood Pavilion in Boston’s South End was the scene of a 10th anniversary celebration hosted by the Huntington Theatre Company on September 29th. The evening captured the energy of the Pavilion and its multiple performance venues that include the 360-seat Wimberly Theatre, the 200-seat Roberts Studio Theatre and the multi-use Deane Rehearsal Hall.
WBA directors Scott Wilson, Scott Butler, Bruce Herrmann and Tom Hains participated in the evening’s festivities. They were acknowledged by the Huntington’s managing director Michael Maso for the firm’s contribution to the Boston arts community, and to the success of the Calderwood Pavilion in revitalizing this now-thriving area of the city.
The Calderwood Pavilion opened to the public in 2004. It was Boston’s first new theater in 75 years!
In 2013, the Huntington Theatre Company won the Regional Theatre Tony Award for “displaying a continuous level of artistic achievement contributing to the growth of theatre nationally.”
A few quick stats excerpted from the Boston Globe coverage of the celebration:
