Model Shop Intern
Wilson Butler Architects is an innovative and collaborative design studio specializing in arts and entertainment experiences. Our award-winning portfolio features diverse projects from theater restorations to new entertainment spaces on cruise ships. The firm’s open studio environment encourages a creative process. We are looking for a Model Shop Intern to join our expanding team.
We are seeking an architect/designer who has a passion for building physical models to work with our various design teams. Our design process uses every tool at our disposal, and it is grounded by hands-on model building throughout, from a project’s programming phase through full-scale mock-ups during construction.
A professional degree in Architecture is desired but not required. A qualified candidate must have experience making models, preferably architectural, over a period of 1-2 years, within a professional company. They must be well acquainted working within a fast paced, quick changing design environment. Attention to detail and finish is very important. Skills should include, but not be limited to, working with foam board, card, basswood and various plastics. Spray painting and model lighting a plus. Comfort with Revit navigation and modeling, Illustrator and Photoshop graphical skills are required. Modelling in Rhino, laser cutter, part drafting and operation, photography, artistic/graphic design are a plus.
