Architectural Designer

Wilson Butler Architects is an innovative and collaborative design studio specializing in arts and entertainment experiences. Our award-winning portfolio features projects ranging from historic theater restorations to groundbreaking spaces aboard the cruise ship industry’s most cutting-edge vessels. The firm’s open studio environment encourages a fun and creative process. We are located in Boston’s Financial District overlooking Post Office Square.

We are growing and are excited to be adding an Architectural Designer to our spirited team!

This individual must be motivated, with at least 5 years of experience working on projects from schematic design through the development of construction documents. Strong design skills complimented by the ability to visualize complex three-dimensional spaces, excellent time management with the ability to balance deadlines, and assisting with, or managing, projects of varying complexity, along with an upbeat, positive attitude are all essential. Throughout all phases of the design process, our office requires people to work both collaboratively and independently.

Requirements
– Holds a degree in Architecture.
– Has at least 5 years of experience.
– Has strong verbal and written communication skill.
Has the ability to convey an architectural concept through diagrams, sketches and three-dimensional models.
– Must be proficient in AutoCad, Revit, and Adobe Creative Suite. Rhino and Vray are preferred.

Senior Interior Designer

Similar to Architects, Interiors Designers at Wilson Butler Architects are global thinkers with the skillset to thoroughly work out the details behind their ideas. They possess the ability to establish an overall design vision for a project, successfully translate it for clients and see it through to completion. It is essential that they have an ability to visualize 3 dimensional space, understand scale, proportion and how things are built (millwork/casework, stairs, railings, etc.). Our Interior Designers are a resource of knowledge on materials, products and furniture for every design team at the firm.

This is a highly collaborative role that requires excellent organization with a skill for prioritizing demands for more than one project at a time, while completing work with consistent accuracy.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
– Manages interior design portion of projects of all sizes and levels of complexity.
– Provides project team leadership and is a resource to all members of the design team.
– Responsible for leading conceptual and schematic design work for the interior design on projects.
– Oversees the design of projects in the design development, construction document, and construction supervision phases.
– Leads space planning and design and detailing efforts of interior architectural features such as counters, bars, millwork, wall panels, ornamental stairs and ceilings.
– Participates in, and sometimes leads, client workshops and presents design concepts and solutions to client.
– Participates in business development efforts and potential project interviews.
– Ability to effectively use standard industry design and production software programs (Revit, Autocad, Rhino, SketchUp or similar).

The ideal applicant has the following attributes:
– A professional degree in Interior Design or related field
– 8-12 years of professional experience in the fields of commercial and/or hospitality design.
– Strong verbal and written communications skills.
– Scrupulous attention to detail.
– Revit experience and skills are paramount.
– Adobe Creative Suite experience is extremely important, especially using Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop, AutoCAD skills are also preferred.
– Proficiency in 3Ds Max, Rhino, V-Ray, SketchUp, and other rendering software is a plus.
– Ability to balance the needs of 2 to 3 projects at a time.
– Experience working with consultants, contractors and clients a plus.

Summer 2020 Co-op

Wilson Butler Architects is an innovative and collaborative design studio specializing in arts and entertainment experiences. Our award-winning portfolio features varying projects from theater restorations to new entertainment spaces on cruise ships. We are looking for a co-op to help round out our staff.

The right candidate is an energetic individual with creative skills, capable of working in a collaborative studio environment.  The co-op will work closely with staff on project design and development and assist in the coordination of work from outside consultants with the architectural drawings and specifications.  The ability to understand 3 dimensional design challenges and communicate ideas clearly is essential.  This position may also come to the aid of the model shop and/or marketing department as the need arises.

Applicant will have an educational background in architecture, interior design, graphic design or related design field.  Please note when applying any and all expertise in Revit, 3ds Max, Rhino, AutoCAD, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, or other creative computer programs.  Strong writing and graphics skills are a plus.
