Architectural Designer

Wilson Butler Architects is an innovative and collaborative design studio specializing in arts and entertainment experiences. Our award-winning portfolio features projects ranging from historic theater restorations to groundbreaking spaces aboard the cruise ship industry’s most cutting-edge vessels. The firm’s open studio environment encourages a fun and creative process.  We are located in Boston’s Financial District overlooking Post Office Square.

We are growing and are excited to be adding an Architectural Designer to our spirited team!

This individual must be motivated, with strong design skills that are complimented by the ability to visualize complex three-dimensional spaces.

Our ideal candidate:

  • Holds a degree in Architecture.
  • Has at least 4-7 years of experience.
  • Has strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Has the ability to convey an architectural concept through diagrams, sketches and three-dimensional models.
  • Is proficiency in Revit, Rhino, Vray, and the Adobe Creative Suite.

Our office requires people to work collaboratively and independently. Some of your responsibilities will include contributing to design concepts, preparing design and construction documents, producing presentation materials, and contributing to on-going marketing or internal research projects.

Office Manager

The exciting news: our firm is expanding and we are looking for a proactive, problem-solving Office Manager to keep our busy office running smoothly!

Our ideal Office Manager has the skillset to:

  • Independently perform a variety of day-to-day administrative functions and work well as part of a team.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office proficiency.
  • Organize and follow through.
  • Communicate clearly (verbal & written word).
  • Answer the phone in a professional/timely manner.
  • Greet/welcome visitors.
  • Place orders for office supplies as frequently as needed.
  • Prepare and manage FedEx shipments. Call couriers and process the mail delivery.
  • Scan in office documents and handling office recycling.
  • Manage small office maintenance duties, including over-all office appearance.
  • Oversee ordering provisions for lunch meetings and office functions.
  • Manage copiers and printers (i.e. ordering supplies and calling for service).
  • Liaison between building & other vendors.
  • Handle multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Apply a degree of creativity and latitude when problem solving.
  • Perform other office manager duties, as needed.

Preferred experience:

  • A college degree.
  • Relevant professional business administrative work experience.
  • A familiarity with standard concepts, practice and procedures within the field of architecture is a plus!
  • Experience with Ajera is a plus!

Working with the Administration Manger and Model Maker, this role is best suited for a seasoned professional who can rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals enabling the company to run smoothly and more efficiently.

Interior Designer

Wilson Butler Architects is an innovative and collaborative design studio specializing in arts and entertainment experiences. Our award-winning portfolio features projects ranging from historic theater restorations to ground breaking spaces aboard the cruise ship industry’s most cutting edge vessels. The firm’s open studio environment encourages a fun and creative process.  We are located in Boston’s Financial District overlooking Post Office Square.

The exciting news: we are growing and need an additional Interior Designer to join our spirited team!

This position requires excellent organizational skills to prioritize and balance the demands for more than one project at a time. At WBA, interior designers are resources of knowledge on material, products and furniture for every design team. Much like architects, interior designers here are able to visualize 3D spaces, have an eye for scale and proportion, and an understanding of how things are built (cabinets, bars, stairs, etc.). All designers at WBA must have the ability to complete work with consistent accuracy, as well as work collaboratively and independently.

The ideal applicant:

  • Holds a professional degree in Interior Design or related field.
  • Has 4-8 years of professional experience.
  • Has strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • Revit experience and skills are paramount.
  • Adobe Creative Suite experience is extremely important, especially Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop.
  • AutoCAD skills are also preferred.
  • Proficiency in 3Ds Max, Rhino, SketchUp, and other rendering software is a plus.
  • Can balance the needs of 2 to 3 projects at a time.
  • Experience working with consultants and clients a plus.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: contributing to the planning and design of interior environments, researching images and developing concepts, preparing design and construction documents including creating sections and construction details, composing palettes of color & materials, producing presentation boards and slide deck presentations, product research, and rendering of plans and elevations including furniture & floor layouts.

Additional duties include helping maintain Interiors materials library, ordering samples, contacting manufacturers’ representatives, and developing and entering data into schedules.  Presenting concepts, materials, layouts and visualizations directly to the client and other members of the design team is usually required and varies by project. Maintaining good client relationships and conveying of information is an important part of our projects.
